La Taverna is a very special small property sharing a pool with three other houses. Completely made of stone it seems as though it is carved out of the rock. The kitchen area in the main room has an ancient marble sink, though modern plumbing! Also gas hob, microwave and fridge. The whole property has recently been restored keeping original stone walls and beamed ceiling. Set into a corner of the stone wall in the bedroom is a luxurious spa bath. There is also a bathroom with a spacious shower and a walk-in wardrobe. The living room has a comfortable sitting area at the back and a dining area with a marble table at the front. Plate glass french doors open onto a beautiful walled courtyard with views over the valley to the hills beyond, while the bedroom has its own private garden. A few steps away is the large pool, also with wonderful views over the hills. La Taverna is set in a friendly village with a bar and restaurant only a couple of minutes walk away. You can order your bread from Silvia at the bar, and buy basic supplies there as well. There is another restaurant and shop at the bottom of the hill. In Prota there are no cars beyond the main piazza, where you park, only a few cows passing by in the lane, so life is very peaceful. Down in the valley below tumbles the lovely Taverone river. A short drive takes you into the Appenine mountains, with many lakes to enjoy. The Ligurian coast is about 40 minutes away, where you can take boats out to the Cinque Terre and Portofino.
