In the heart of the Alto Mugello, high above Florence, lies the little village of Popolano. Casa Scheda is a 17th century family house beside the river, lovingly restored by the owner and converted into three beautiful apartments.

The area is another forgotten corner of Tuscany, with the advantage that Florence is less than an hour away, and the treasures of Ravenna and Faenza are within easy reach.
A little 'trenino'that cuts through the mountains is used by everyone to visit the villages and towns between Florence and Faenza. The journey by car is beautiful and spectacular, but takes considerably longer that the train.

The Alto Mugello is an area of rolling hills, that descend from the Appenine passes to the west and meet the coastal plain of the Adriatic. It is wonderful walking country, with many rivers and small towns to explore.

Apartamento Pina - a 100 m2 partially restored second-floor master apartment offers a kitchen/family room, master bedroom with full bath, spacious livingroom with fireplace opening onto a terrace with a panoramic view. The apartments is complete with the antique furniture that has been in the family for many generations.
Apartment Carolina, an 80 m2 rustic ground-floor apartment opening onto a delightful courtyard offers two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen/family room, and living room with fireplace. All beautifully converted from the rooms occupied by the 'contadini' and their animals until recent times.
If you just need a simple place to relax after a days walk, there is Apartment Olga, for 1 or 2 people. A 35 m2 first-floor two-room apartment with a living area, kitchen area and full-sized sofabed, single bedroom, private bathroom with shower and washing machine.

Arrangements can be made for guests wishing to use the music room equipped with a baby-grand piano.

They all centre around a vine-festooned pergola over the main courtyard where Anna Maria will make you welcome, and may be unable to refrain from offering you the local delicacies she cooks in her kitchen.

For those clients who have come to love the special peace and tranquility of Lunigiana, staying at Casa Scheda will be a new experience in a new area.

The week at Casa Scheda was something else! Having made the mistake of routeing ourselves through Chianti and then via Passo del Muraglione (it's the motorbike Mecca of Italy and terrifying!) we entered Marradi via St Benedetto,- beautiful but hairy. (Would probably be good to give folk a route from the Florence side via Borgo). Anna Maria couldn't believe we'd come that way. She and Luigi were so kind,- we ate with them (and friends) the first night - in single words of English and Italian and some French! It was wonderful.
She then insisted on taking us round in her car to show us the locality the next day. A really lovely couple,- you are lucky to have found such a gem.
We heard no English at all during the week except in Ravenna, and the people in the shops in Marradi were so helpful, and appreciative of our VERY few words in Italian.
We shall be back to Italy again, and will surely use you. Just sorry we can't use any of these offers now!!
