This wonderful old villa is situated high up in the Lunigiana hills above the beautiful old town of Bagnone. Dating back to the 1600s, La Bicchieraia was restored in 1990 and is tastefully furnished beautifully furnished in traditional style with antiques.
There are views from all the bedrooms and the living rooms, and there is a panoramic terrace with a pergola just outside the house where people tend to spend most of the day, gazing across to the castle and the hills towards the sea in the distance. There are lawns around the side of the house, and the well-tended garden cascades down the hillside in terraces, with the pool nestling on a terrace below, equipped with chaise lounges, tables, chairs, and a large umbrella. |

The ground floor entrance leads into a large dining kitchen with a fireplace. There is a twin-bedded room, a bathroom with shower, and a laundry room. On the second floor there are three more bedrooms - one double bedroom with a double bed, and two with twin beds. These three bedrooms share a bathroom with a bath and another bathroom with shower. There is a large living room with fireplace and three comfortable sofas, as well as a second dining room. The amenities include washing machine, dishwasher, TV. The house has spectacular views over a rich river valley filled with forests and dotted with the towers and castles of Lunigiana. It is is situated a few hundred metres from Bagnone castle, which dominates the town below. Bagnone is an old market town with arcades to stroll through, several shops, bars and restaurants, a fast-flowing river in the gorge below the main square. From Bagone you can drive up into the 'Park of 100 Lakes' high in the Apennines or drop down to the sea at the old fishing port of Lerici, with its harbourside bars and restaurants, beaches and boats out to the 'Cinque Terre'. You can make day trips to Parma, Pisa, Carrara, Lucca and Florence. Nearby activities include fishing, riding, and hiking in the Apuane and Apennine Mountains. Or you can explore the hills and rivers of Lunigiana. You may of course just stay on the terrace with your 'prosecco' and watch the sunset over the hills after hard day relaxing round the pool.
