Looking down from the hills

Acquabattaglia is an old stone watch tower which has been converted into a country house. It lies in the beautiful Montefeltro renaissance area right on the borders between Le Marche, Umbria and Tuscany - truly an undiscovered part of Italy. It is a pleasant walk to the lively little town of Cantiano, with bars, shops and restaurants. Just 20 minutes away is the magnificent old city Gubbio. The house is made up of 4 apartments, which are furnished in Umbrian arte povera style, and old fireplaces have been installed in all apartments. Most of the apartments can be made interconnecting for larger groups, and there is a large communal room and communal kitchen available for the use of guests. The barn has now been converted into two lovely apartments with their own verandahs. There is a large fenced area with the swimming pool (15 m by 7 m); deck chairs and sun-beds. There is well-equipped barbecue kitchen as well. Gubbio, Perugia and Assisi are within easy reach. Other sights include Urbino, Arezzo, Cortona, Frasassi caves and the Republic of San Marino. The property is 40 min drive to the Adriatic coast. Riding and horse trekking available nearby at very reasonable cost. You can spend all day riding in the hills if you wish. Mountain bikes are available on site. Cuisine: truffles, local cheese, delicatessen, bread, pasta and pizza of Chiaserna. Nearest airports: Perugia, Ancona, Rimini and Forli.
